On 17 September, members Maria, Laura, & Becky were invited to participate in one of the national WI events as part of the centenary year: the first ever WI meeting held on the Parliamentary Estates. The day was in 2 parts.  The morning shared a bit about the publication of The WI at 100 research project and the afternoon was an educational talk about the history of the WI.

In the morning, NFWI chair of public affairs Marylyn Haines Evans  spoke to us about the research and then and introduced Baroness Lola Young who led a panel discussion about women in today's world featuring journalist Bryony Gordon, actress Bronagh Waugh, and policy expert Hannah Cameron from The Gates Foundation.

In the afternoon we were welcomed back from lunch by Mr Speaker John Bercow and enjoyed Professor Maggie Andrews' lecture "100 Years of the WI: women as agents of social change."

It was a very special day and there are loads of photos and a much more detailed write up on the NFWI website
